The Sound Social: Gatherings & Grit
Whether you’re looking to warm up after a winter plunge or share a pint with your rowing crew, this is where the Macdonald Club community connects on dry land. Beyond our official challenges and races, you’ll find a rotating calendar of social meetups, "tide talks," and post-swim thaws designed to strengthen the network of local pods throughout the Puget Sound.

The Post-Plunge Thaw: Pints & Potholes
Join your fellow swimmers and rowers for a mid-week rewarming session. We’re trading the 45-degree water for 50-degree IPAs and a warm fire. Whether you just finished a sunset row or a quick dip in the Sound, come share your "grit" stories and meet members of local pods from across the Seattle area. First round of chips is on the club!

Alki Beach Bonfire & Tide Talk
A low-stakes meetup for anyone who loves the salt air but isn't quite ready to jump in today. We’ll be gathering near the Alki fire pits to watch the ferries cross and discuss the upcoming tide cycles. This is a great chance for new members to ask "subject-matter experts" about safe entry points and the best local rewarming strategies before the next big challenge.

Rainier View Brews: A Social Archive Session
Help us build our "Living Archive of Grit." We’re meeting for coffee (or beer) to document the stories of the Sound. Bring your favorite photos of Mt. Rainier from the water or tales of your most memorable winter morning entry. We’ll be hanging out, swapping tips on gear, and celebrating the "determined, supportive, and salty character" that makes our PNW community unique.
